CDM opened a Health Centre in South Ngariama – Kirinyaga

On 26th June 2023, the Bishop Catholic Diocese of Murang’a, Rt. Rev. James Maria Wainaina presided over the opening of St. Mary’s Ikurungu Health Centre in South Ngariama – Kirinyaga County. During the same occasion, the Bishop presided ground-breaking of the construction of Inpatient and maternity wing which will comprise of 32 beds. This block was expected to be completed in the next four months after. The bishop also blessed the facility and Immanuel Sisters Convent. The Sisters will be running the operations of the facility. This came few days after the Diocese launched construction of Mary Immaculate Kerugoya Hospital Accident and Emergency/Outpatient complex in Kerugoya – Kirinyaga County which is the main project of the diocese this year.

The occasion was graced by several guests among them government officials, some benefactors to this project and several leaders. These leaders thanked the Catholic Diocese of Murang’a for initiating such project that is helpful to this marginalized community. The eventually promised to work closely with the diocese to ensure the project’s objectives have been met. Residents of this region also appreciated the work which has been done by the diocese since the area had no other such facility before.

Some operations in this facility commenced immediately where many people from the area received different medical services.

Speaking in this occasion, the Bishop thanked all benefactors who accepted to support the diocese in this project. He called for more well-wishers to come on board and support such projects being done by the diocese to more people in the society. He also thanked the leaders in the Kirinyaga County government for supporting and ensuring the continuity of the projects. He concluded by urging the residents of South Ngariama to support the project by all means since it will be helpful to them and their future generation.

This event was also attended by several religious men and women from different parishes in the diocese making this event colorful.
