The main framework of The Catholic Justice and Peace Commission (CJPC) is Civic Education in all matters pertaining to the growth of any society. Because of the violations of human rights, The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) by then Kenya Episcopal Conference (KEC) decided to start the commission in 1988, where those rights are to be channeled, taught and passed to people. The Commission was established in the Catholic Diocese of Murang’a in the year 1992 which apart from teaching constitutional matters, also deals with Lenten Campaign.
The commission therefore was established for evangelization.
