HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF FAMILY LIFE DEPARTMENT
Family Life Department was started in 1987 with the leadership of Rev. Bishop Peter Kairo.  It’s activities focused making a good and holy families. The activities and programs developed by then focused on formation of the couple and uniting with God in procreation. These were very relevant to the community and this was evidenced by the trainings that were carried out. By 2012, about 30 couples had been trained by the help of Family Life Counselling Association of Kenya (FLCAK) on natural method of Family Planning and Marriage Encounter. However, after several year of operation, Family Counselling Association of Kenya (FLCAK) underwent some financial crisis and could no more fund family life programs in our diocese. This led to the down fall of the department. In 2016, the current Bishop Rt. Rev. James Maria Wainaina, decided to reactivate the department and its programs.
